Welcome to Portmagee Hostel, located in the fishing village of Portmagee, the gateway to Valentia Island. Opened October 2005, Portmagee Hostel, like it’s sister property – Skellig Hostel in Ballinskelligs, is a super example of today’s contemporary, yet traditionally styled modern hostel. With warm, spacious, fresh and bright bedrooms and facilities, you will be more than happy by the private and public areas available.

Individuals, groups, families, clubs, students, backpackers, in fact we welcome everybody. With a combination of rooms to choose from (Bed Linen is supplied), we also have 2 Self Catering Kitchens with all modern utensils and facilities; 2 Dining Rooms; and a Lounge with TV, DVD & Stereo.

Located on the Skellig Ring, “A Secret Ring off the Ring of Kerry”, Portmagee Hostel is the ideal place to stay when exploring Valentia and Skellig Islands, and this most beautiful area of Ireland’s rugged south west coast.

The famous Skellig Island Boat trips are only 2 minutes from the Hostel and other well known activities and amenities include the Kerry Way for walkers; magnificent scenery for all to fall in love with; great quiet cycling routes; diving and fishing; horse riding; a wide variety of archaeological sites and Heritage Centers including the Skellig Experience; quality music, food & pubs; and best of all, World Famous Irish Hospitality.

Directions

From Kerry Airport it’s a one hour drive to Caherciveen, the nearest town to our Hostel (12km). 2km outside of Caherciveen on Waterville Road, take 1st right hand turn at sign post to Portmagee. Go through the village staying on the Skellig Ring road and the Hostel is located on the left hand side of the road just under the GAA Grounds. From Tralee and Killarney (train and bus) take the N70 to Killorglin then take same directions as above.
